“What you do proves what you believe.” ~Simon Sinek

What do you really want to see in the world? What is your motivation to get up in the morning?

Do you have a burning desire to fight injustice in the world? Do you know there are more animals out there that need to be rescued from dangerous homes? Is the sight of your toddler’s messy hair and sleepy eyes as you fix her breakfast enough to make your heart melt? Do you love the feeling of putting on your gorgeous suit and listening to NPR as you drive in to the office? Does watching the sunrise fill your soul with gratitude for another day here on Earth?

Why we do what we do it an important question to ask. Maybe the most important question. When we are connected to what I call (and play with on Instagram) #mybigWHY, we are hooked up to our fuel source for action. Having a practice of regularly connecting to your WHY creates momentum, and momentum creates change.

In his wildly popular and super enlightening TED Talk, Simon Sinek teaches us that we’re inspired by leaders that are clear and connected to their WHY: the purpose, cause, or belief behind what they’re bringing to the world. He tells us that “people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”

You may or may not be selling something, but we all want to make a positive impact on the world in some way or another. We want our life to stand for something. We want to build a legacy that is remembered after we’re gone.

What do you want to be remembered for?

If you can answer that question and align your actions with that every day, then that is a life well lived. This is your definition of success. It may not match society’s current model for what success looks like, but Inspired Living is not about getting results that meet someone else’s standards, it’s about being authentic and bringing passion and integrity to your relationships and to the choices you make. Inspired Living is about knowing WHY you’re here and living your life in service to that WHY.

I want to see what your #mybigWHY is! Snap a picture and post it on Instagram using the hashtag #mybigWHY and tagging me @cristinzegers!
