Here at Inspired Living we like to set goals. But not in a traditional way (we kind of buck against anything that’s too traditional, like red dining rooms or preppy attire <giggle giggle>). We look at the left-brain notion of goal-setting and flood it with right-brain feeling and flow which results in Intentional Life Design.

A theme is chosen for each month which offers us the opportunity to dig deep with one are of our lives. Lovingly tending to all areas of our lives renders a fuller, richer whole.

Kind of like when you’re building a garden. If you want clean, vibrant, and abundant flowers and vegetables, you have to pay attention to all the components that will give you that result: organic soil, lumber that isn’t treated with chemicals, plenty of water and sunshine, protection from pests and predators, and of course, your consistent focus and attention. You can’t be afraid to get your hands dirty.

This is what Inspired Living is all about.  Tending the garden of your life, especially the parts that might weaken the whole system and threaten the result you desire.

What we’re aiming for is a holistically healthy and luminous life, where the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts.

But you have to look at the parts. I was inspired by this quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupery:

“Peace is present when things form part of a whole greater than their sum, as the diverse minerals in the ground collect to become a tree.”

For the month of May we will be working with Wealth & Prosperity. In the ancient art and science of Feng Shui, in which I was trained 15 years ago and have made a part of my regular practice, we are taught that the energy of Wealth & Prosperity resonates in a certain space in our home in relation to where the main front door is.

The front door of your house will fall along the bottom plane of this chart.

Wealth & Prosperity is about having an abundance of resources, feeling limitless in your ability to create what you want in life and to be generous without hesitation. Who doesn’t want more of that?!

As we move through this month I’ll offer you musings and thought-starters for you to get crystal clear on what the Wealth & Prosperity piece of your life looks like now, where you desire it to be, and how you can begin to take intentional actions steps toward making that your reality.

Feng Shui also teaches us that different elements and colors also resonate at the same frequency as the puzzle pieces of our lives. When we add decor with an energetic match to the life area we are working with, that energy is enhanced and boosted. You don’t have to get all deep and scientific about it (unless you want to–I love that stuff!). Approach it with a playful and creative attitude and see what you can come up with using items in your home that you already own, or creating something with your hands that speaks to your Soul.

Supportive Decor for Wealth & Prosperity

  1. Purple is the power color for this area of your home. Other colors that enhance the energy of this space are jewel tones: sapphire blue, ruby red, emerald green, and metallic gold. You could paint everything in this room to resemble a Queen’s jewelry box, but that’s not necessary. A little goes a long way with Feng Shui. It’s all about the intention you use when designing your space. To welcome more Wealth & Prosperity into your life, you can use a purple table runner or add a beautifully ornate gold-framed mirror. Pops of color on a neutral background are fine, as is going all out and bathing the space in these rich jewel tones.
  2. When thinking of furnishing and accessorizing this area of your home, consider placing your finest items in this space. What belonging do you own that make you feel rich and luxurious? If your bed is here, treat yourself to the highest thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. How about gorgeous silk drapes, or displaying your fine crystal in this area? That stunning imported rug, or even a picture of you on the trip of a lifetime.
  3. Next time you’re paying your bills or sending out invoices to clients, consider doing it from this space. A piggy bank on a table or a dish for spare change are also great if located here.

So this week, find the Wealth & Prosperity area of the main floor in your home and notice what’s there. Remove anything broken or tattered, understanding that the energy of these items is keeping the full flow of abundance from reaching you.

Clear out the clutter (as always), generously donating what doesn’t make you feel prosperous to an organization that helps those in financial troubles.

Clean out the drawers, dust the shelves, surround yourself with things that make you feel like a Queen. Maybe take a walk around your house looking at your belonging with this lens and gathering the items that represent this energy to you. This is an individual process–only you know how your things make you feel.

In the coming weeks I’ll offer you some more insights into the energy of Wealth & Prosperity, and I’ll be going through all the exercises along with you! I would love for you to share your experience here on the comments section of the blog or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/rootbloomandsoar.  Have fun with it and let’s go experience some crazy awesome abundance!!

peace & love,

Cristin
